Astonishing Things:
Wild Landscapes of Victor Hugo
Explore the wild landscapes in the sketchbooks of Victor Hugo (Les Miserables, Hunchback of Notre Dame) now on view in “Astonishing Things,” at London’s Royal Academy of Art.
We’ll follow Hugo’s techniques to build atmospheric layers working from a “local scene” or a reference image provided using Canson papers, graphite, charcoals, sepia (coffee) wash, acrylic.
