About the Workshops

Saturday Sketch at CFFCM: Plein Air Drawing and Painting at The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum in Livingston Manor, NY with Karen Meneghin

We’ll take a macro and micro approach to our ketching. Through the use of simple drawing tools, we’ll translate our medium- to long-range observations using lines with light or dark tonal masses working up a landscape composition.

We’ll explore different approaches to drawing that vary in style and execution (see Camille COROT below) — use of framing aids, grid plots to visually transfer or free form gestural approach and use use drawing tools, erasers, fingers, etc. During the second half of the session, we’ll focus on the closeup or individual elements of the landscape: rocks, plants, trees.

Traditionally these drawn or painted “studies on paper” were incorporated as part of a larger studio painting, but in their own right are highly collectible and informative for artists and students. (see Camille COROT below)

WORKSHOP FEES: $25. 00 per day Basic drawing kit ADD-ON: $12.50
